Bethany (Ani) Grismore, MA, LAC
Somatic Based Mental Health Therapist
Hello, I’m Ani (Aw-nee) Grismore, Licensed Associate Counselor in Arizona, a down-to- earth introvert with a love for connecting with folks who are looking to heal and grow. I am a mother and a mentor to many, and I enjoy cooking and dancing in my spare time.
I began my journey through my own counseling experiences young, and it was my own relationship with a counselor as a teen that I truly felt saved my life and improved my direction toward a deeper spiritual understanding about the value of relationships and community.
I began my career in Portland, Oregon in 2016, where I received a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling with a Specialization in Addictions at the prestigious Lewis and Clark Graduate School of Mental Health and Counseling. I have worked in a variety of settings and with many populations over the last 9 years, with children, youth, and adults: in play therapy, recovery centers, with justice-involved youth, and in group and family therapy.
I have a passion for fighting against commonly held societal beliefs about mental health and barriers to healthy families and communities. I am finishing a program for legal paraprofessional licensure in family law which will be completed in December 2025. I have some personal background navigating difficult parenting time obstacles, issues with adolescents, and supporting parents who are navigating the divorce/separation process, which I think helps lend to a compassionate, supportive perspective.
I specialize in working with adolescents, with families, and individuals: family patterns and dysfunctions like codependence, addiction, generational trauma; core belief systems that limit relationships and personal growth; and high-conflict complex family systems as a result of divorce, family blending and family legal histories.
I use modalities in my practice that are centered in creative and body-based processing, to include somatic, narrative, Gestalt, family systems, attachment, ART, EMDR, and DBT.
Navigating the world without an ally can be overwhelming. Let me help you to take a break and help sort out some of the patterns/beliefs that might not be serving you as you journey through this life. We all have room to grow. Whether it be the challenges of transition, recovery from trauma or habits, family/attachment issues, the weight of anxiety and depression, or complex mental health struggles like PTSD, bipolar, ADHD, and personality disorders.
Better health and happiness is possible. Let me help you and your family hear your inner truth, so you can find your way to better health. Having the support of a therapist to have your back during trying times can make a huge difference in your confidence, clarity, and overall wellness. The right fit serves as a safe homebase to tackle life’s challenges, build healthy relationships, and achieve important goals.
